In this first DVD set of the TrueU series, Dr. Stephen Meyer plays a “philosophical survival game,” pitting four worldviews against one another in the quest to decide which one gives the best answers. Dr. Meyer examines the evidence and provides the tools needed for students to defend their faith and make it their own. This is the perfect resource for students preparing to enter college and a culture that may be hostile to their faith. Review
In an era when deep Biblical teaching seems to be lacking, TrueU is proving to be an excellent resource to provide high school students with a depth that they not only need, but are hungry for. Our ministries would do well to equip teenagers with such a firm foundation for their faith as is provided in the TrueU video series. (Kevin White; Director of 24-7 Ministries, the youth ministry of Awana)
If you are familiar with The Truth Project, you will love TrueU, which is targeted at high school students who are preparing to enter universities and at students already in those schools. This series of 25-minute lessons will equip students as they confront a collegiate environment and professors who will seek to demean and destroy their Christian faith. TrueU will help Christian youth workers and parents to build into their students’ hearts and minds so those students will have a confident faith and be able to stand firm and share their faith at this crucial time in their lives. I believe this tool can make a significant difference for our students. (Paul Fleischmann; President, National Network of Youth Ministries)
TrueU’s Does God Exist? content is very well done with great production value. It fills a void and makes me want to watch the rest of the series titles. Our oldest daughter’s fianc is getting his clinical doctorate and has experienced a great deal of opposition throughout his education because of his faith (illustrating the reality of the academic world elitists towards Christianity). (Joel Pilcher; Vice President of Communications, Open Doors USA)
Here’s an excellent, timely, and compelling resource that will bolster the faith of students and prepare them to defend their beliefs against challenges that may arise in school and beyond. I highly recommend this first-rate program! (Lee Strobel, author)
TrueU meets a tremendous need within the body of Christ for a first-class, relevant, and well-researched apologetics curriculum for upper high school and college students. Stephen Meyer is an engaging communicator who will help prepare your students for the intellectual challenges Christian students face in college. (Sean McDowell, teacher, speaker, and author)
I’ve spent over 17 years working with students. One of the toughest challenges was finding good curriculum. Most of the stuff out there is either too lame and cheesy or too shallow―nothing you could use with students without reservation. True U has finally solved the problem. Their DVD curriculum is deep, equipping students with a sophisticated but accessible defense of the faith. But it’s also pretty cool, produced in a way that won’t have you thinking, “there’s another tacky Christian product.” Seriously, this video curriculum needs to be shown in Christian homes, youth groups and schools across the nation, if we’re going to adequately train up a new generation of Christ followers. (Brett Kunkle; Student Impact Director, Stand to Reason)
Too many students are entering college with faith in God but leaving with that faith seriously damaged, often destroyed. TrueU deals with this issue head-on and provides the certainty that kids need to not only survive but flourish on the university campus. (Chuck Klein; Director, Campus Alliance)
TrueU’s Does God Exist? is an excellent tool for youth pastors and leaders who are striving to equip students for the philosophical onslaught they face in their schools. Dr. Stephen Meyer presents a compelling case for the reasonableness of our Christian faith while making very complex topics understandable. I highly recommend it for college students, college-bound high school seniors, and their parents. (Bob Long; Director of Student Ministries, Converge Worldwide Converge MidAmerica)
In twenty-one years of working with youth and college ministries, rarely have I been as impressed as with Focus on the Family’s new series, TrueU. These DVDs, along with a comprehensive manual, are vital resources that are extremely well done. predict that they will become standard resources in many churches’ student ministries programs and in the homes of many Christian families. Every volume is filled with facts, stimulating data, and practical application, and all are firmly based on Scripture. I appreciate the topic selections, the production value, and the credible voices heard on the videos (including Stephen Meyer, Ph.D., who is one of our own adjunct faculty here at Southern Evangelical Seminary). Like all of the resources I have seen produced by Focus on the Family, these are faithful to Scripture and helpful to viewers, and they effectively point people to Jesus Christ. I highly recommend the entire TrueU series. (Dr. Alex McFarland; President, Southern Evangelical Seminary)

Where was this when I was in high school?
By L. Germany
One of the high school experiences that is permanently etched on my mind is the teacher who constantly tortured me because I was a Christian. At first I really didn't realize why she was picking on me. I just knew that she really seemed to make a point of making cutting remarks and trying to find ways to embarass me. After she called a practice for a time when I normally had church and I told her that I would have to miss that practice, she called me a very inappropriate name. I never said anything about it to anyone. I lived in the day when teachers were always right.
What a difference it would have made if I had the advantage of TrueU during that time. It is a confidence and knowledge that I want my own boys to have as they go out into the work/college/friend world.
This series includes 2 DVD's with ten thirty minute sessions. The sessions included are: Faith and Reason, The Big Bang theory, DNA, Intelligent Design, The Return of the God Hypothesis, and The Moral Necessity of Theism. If you have ever watched the "Drive Thru History" series, you will recognize Dave Stotts as one of the series narrators!
I love the way Dr. Meyers presents the creationism view to his students. He allows them to asks the questions. Through their discussions he shows them how creationism is the most perfect worldview.
I am so excited to use this in our homeschool Bible study this fall and then share this with our church youth group.
I received this series free from Tyndale Publishers as part of their Blogger Review Program in exchange for a honest review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commision's 16 CFR, Part 255.

Well Done and Respectful- Highly Recommend
By Lori
"Do you really believe that what you believe is really real?"
In the DVD set, Does God Exist?, Dr. Stephen Meyer* attempts to answer the question, "What is the prime reality?". This boils down to "What's the thing from which everything else comes?". He takes a classroom (of what appear to be college students) through multiple competing hypotheses. Looking at evidence from the natural world, he makes his case for which of the four worldviews (deism, theism, pantheism, and materialism) provides the best explanation.
The set contains two DVDs, with ten thirty minute lessons. These include Faith and Reason, The Big Bang Cosmology Parts 1-3, DNA by Design Parts 1-3, The Return of the God Hypothesis, and The Moral Necessity of Theism Parts 1-2. There is also a nicely done booklet included, which contains an overview for each session, highlights from the lesson, and discussion questions that would actually lead to discussion. For example, "Why is it important to think of the Big Bang as an 'effect' of the universe rather than the 'cause' of the universe?", "What is meant by "self-organization", and why does this theory fail to account for the arrangement of information in DNA?", and "Why is it so difficult to live as a moral relativist- to deny the existence of any objective moral standard?".
Dr. Meyers respects his student's intelligence, encouraging them to look at the objectives to his arguments and come to their own conclusions. He makes his case for Intelligent Design and asks them to decide if his evidence is persuasive. He doesn't belittle other theories and scientists, but rather explains their viewpoints and then shares why he does not believe the evidence backs them up. This made a huge impression on me, as other Christian scientists I otherwise admire unfortunately seem to have a glaring absence of this kind of respect for those who do not agree with them.
These lessons are not designed to argue a literal interpretation of Genesis versus Theistic Evolution. I would deduce that Dr. Meyers is in the latter group, but this is not the point of his teaching. His goal is to show that the best explanation for the question of what's-the-thing-everything-else-came-from is God. The lessons are full of scientific discoveries and history and theories, but even as a "non-science person" I found him easy to listen to and follow. This will be staying in my homeschool library and will be required viewing for my high schoolers. I think it would be a great addition to a biology course, or even a study on Origin Theories. I have considered putting something together like this myself- combining materials from the Young Earth Creationists, the Theistic Evolutionists, the Intelligent Design crowd, and the Evolutionists. After studying each "from the horse's mouth", the student could craft a persuasive paper sharing their own conclusions. This would be a wonderful part of this kind of course and could generate much discussion.

Excellent Resource
By Tracy Keck
Recently I had the opportunity to review the DVD Does God Exist? Kit: Building the Scientific Case, produced by Focus on the Family, and featuring Dr. Stephen Meyer. I'm so glad that I did! There are two DVD's with ten 30-minute lessons (plus a bonus extra: The Toughest Test in College), along with a 64-page color booklet with discussion questions. Topics discussed are: Faith and Reason, The Big Bang theory, DNA, Intelligent Design, The Return of the God Hypothesis, and The Moral Necessity of Theism.
For decades now, our society has been embracing intellectualism and the climate is growing increasingly hostile to faith. This series is geared toward young people, to help answer questions (that we all have) and then be able to defend their faith. It is perfect for those who are college-bound, but it is also perfect for those who don't go to college. It can be taught in a home-school environment, in youth groups or small groups, or even simply as family viewing and learning together. It is not a finished set. There are two additional kits planned for the future. It is a wonderful resource to have and to use.
This kit was provided to me for review by Tyndale House Publishers.
