Unlikable characters and a ridiculous story line

To be fair, I shouldn't be too surprised. The first book was just ok. But I felt the need to finish the story so I purchased the second book. Big mistake.
This definitely seems like one of those instances when an author splits a book in half to make extra money. If it is a good, strong story with enough material to fill two books, then fine. But this story easily could've been finished with one extra chapter in the first book. It would've been a much better story. This second book was a complete waste of time. I had to skim through most of it because it was so repetitive.
How anyone could like the two main characters is beyond me. Blake is a total a$$ who makes a miraculous change in the last ten pages and becomes prince charming. Jewell is weak, and her "thoughts" are horrible to listen to. At least half of this book is either dialog or thoughts from Blake and Jewell that go something like this:
B: "I have this indescribable need to own this woman. And I can't let her forget that she's a prostitute"
J: "I hate that he is such a jerk but then the second he touches me I forget all about how mean he is. But he doesn't really own me."
Ugh. The repetitiveness of their interactions combined with the MOST unbelievable story line of all time is why I gave this one star. I won't give it away, but it was so ridiculous it would've been a bad book even if the characters were likeable.

Disappointed

I was looking so forward to reading this book, but was totally disappointed. First the story line went by too fast no depth to it. The fact that Justin was his son was so totally unreal, give me a least how he found out Justin was his son, that was totally left up in the air. Also, everybody knew how much Jewell suffered from not being able to visit w/her brother and boom everyone was visiting with him and no one told her...you call those friends? The Epilogue should have been about Blake and Jewel not from a new book coming out. When I started reading Melody Anne's book I loved them all, but lately she is putting out books too fast and the story line is just not there. The part in the boat was so not credible, it was actually ridiculous. I hope the next book is a lot better.

Absolutely awful.....I am so disappointed!

OMG......I don't even know what to say to this. I have always absolutely loved every book that Melody Anne has written, but this book was just horrible. It began well with the first installment of the series. It even ended with a rather good cliffhanger....but the way this second book picked up and finished the story of Jewel and Blake made my stomach turn!!!!!! In the first book Jewel was perceived as a good girl that was trying to do all she could to get her brother back. She survived so many trying things that most of us could not even fathom. She seemed strong, smart, and very driven with a smart mouth to boot. In this second book she was said to be a college drop out (even though in the first book she was a college grad who was an ad exec), felt sorry for herself, let Blake treat her like a complete piece of crap and kept going back to him because of the sex! Needless to say she lost the smart mouth that made her feisty in the first novel as well. Did anyone else not see this??????? I was floored. Did someone else write this crap and put Melody Anne's name on the book. I have never in my life read a book and just want to puke, but this book did that and more. How can an author write so many great stories and then come up with this one. The "heroine" ended up being the trashy whore that he told her time and time again she was although this time had no backbone whatsoever!!!! Paaaalease!!!!!
