Guru Padmasambhava is generally referred to as Guru Rinpoche, which means "precious master." Guru Rinpoche is a buddha, a fully awakened one. Through his form, primordial wisdom manifests in the world to benefit all sentient beings. Guru Rinpoche is a direct reincarnation of Buddha Shakyamuni. Buddha Shakyamuni said, "Eight years after my mahaparinirvana, a remarkable being with the name Padmasambhava will appear in the center of a lotus and reveal the highest teaching concerning the ultimate state of the true nature, bringing great benefit to all sentient beings." The Buddha also said that Padmasambhava would be an emanation of Buddha Amitabha and Avalokiteshvara, and referred to him as the "embodiment of all the buddhas of the three times." Buddha Shakyamuni mainly presented Hinayana and Sutra Mahayana teachings, while Guru Padmasambhava taught the Vajrayana. Both revealed the complete and perfect path to awakening so that individuals of all capacities would benefit. The absolute level of the Buddha's teaching is beyond conception. If it didn't go beyond the conceptual level, there would be no need to change our normal way of understanding things. To help us realize the primordial nature, Buddha Shakyamuni and Guru Padmasambhava repeatedly taught that we must transcend clinging to our ordinary dualistic conceptions, narrow attitudes, close mindedness, traditional rules, beliefs, and limitations. The enlightened activities of Guru Rinpoche's eight emanations are especially powerful and effective in destroying the solidity of our dualistic concepts and fixed opinions, and in awakening us to true freedom. Inspiring and Insightful

One often hears about the famous 8 manifestations of Padmasambhava yet one rarely can find detailed information on them. Here the Venerable Khenpos bring to life the essence of Guru Rimpoche and each of his manifestations. We learn not only the history of each manifestation but their significance toward our understanding of the true nature of reality. In addition each description ends w a description of a meditation and when/why we might perform that practice. A great book.

This wonderful book by Khenchen Palden Sherab Rinpoche and Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche offers truly inspiring teachings on the activities and blessings of Padmasambhava, and how our minds create and manifest the displays which we experience as our lives and the world in which we live. How our habitual patterns, ways of perceiving ourselves, our relationships, situations, and the entire phenomenal world in which we believe ourselves to exist in, are influenced and ultimately manifested solely as a display of mind ~ negative, selfish habitual clingings and tendencies bringing about suffering for ourselves and others, and how, as we cultivate and awaken qualities of the true nature of our minds, such as love, compassion, wisdom and joy, our entire experience and perception of ourselves and the world becmes more beautiful, loving, and wonderful. The book discusses how Padmasambhava ultimately represents our own true nature, and how, working with these eight magical manifestations of enlightenened wisdom, we may truly awaken into our true nature, which is full of infinite possibilities and beautiful wisdom qualities, and thus bringing great benefit for ourselves and all those we have connection with (which is ultimately every living being)! A wonderful, inspiring book, by truly realised, warm, loving and wise Tibetan Buddhist lamas ... greatly recommended! May all beings benefit! (Paul Jones)
